Abdool Corlette is an award-winning Creative Director & Filmmaker based in Brooklyn, New York with a focus on shifting culture through diverse, high-impact storytelling. He currently leads the creative team at GLAAD, the world's largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization where he specializes in telling the nuanced stories of LGBTQ people and people of color. His diverse background and intersecting identities greatly influences his work and point of view.

Abdool moved to Boston from the Caribbean in the mid 1990s where he grew up with a rich sense of his Indo/Afro-Guyanese culture. Growing up he was drawn to creative writing and filmmaking. His early works reflect his interest in using art as an outlet to express his sexuality, culture, faith and background.

Abdool’s interest in the arts and writing won him a scholarship to Milton Academy, one of the nation’s most prestigious boarding schools, where he refined his love for storytelling. There, he was the Editor in Chief of the school’s only literary publication dedicated to stories about people of color. His curiosity for exploring the world outside of Boston lead him to study abroad in Italy his junior year, where he concentrated in art history and built the confidence to pursue storytelling as a career.

In film school, Abdool weaved all of his unique experiences to form his own style that got him recognized as one of the most gifted students in the School of Visual Arts’ film program. His thesis film won the highest prize for screenwriting at SVA. Upon graduating, he noticed stories that showcased people who looked like him were missing from the media and so he set out to rectify that by flooding the internet with content by and about LGBTQ people and people of color. Abdool has seen the value and impact of identity lead storytelling and strives to create content that is rooted in authenticity.
